Telemedicine & Video Conferencing

I am interesting in Telemedicine and Video Conferencing related work.

Telemedicine - E'Health
Being an Oral Surgeon and an Academic I engage in developing the field of telemedicine among institutions and also use of Videoconferencing for remote learning.
My first experience is with Saga University, Japan where the software developed for multimedia medical collaboration by the Saga Engineering Faculty (Dr Duminda Nishantha & Prof Hayashida) was tested between the surgeons of Saga University and Peradeniya Unversity. We found that this software helps in surgeons exchanging patient data and live discussions for patients before and after operations. This has helped proper planning and delivery of medical care in my institution in Peradeniya. http://turkey.fu.is.saga-u.ac.jp/education/project/Collabo1.html
Next we have tested this facility between various institutes in Sri Lanka.

Video Conferencing and Remote learning- E'Learning
For Remote learning I have been studying various software available. We found that SKYPE could be used for exchange of Audio/Video between two centres but it is the ‘Desktop sharing’ facility that makes sense in remote learning. By this method it is possible to transmit a powerpoint presentation live to a remote place using desktop sharing coupled with Skype for audio and video. There is a small delay of few seconds for slide transition and this becomes negligible during the lecture since the speaker could explain the full slide and ask few questions before moving to next slide. Microsoft Shared View and some other software has been tested for this purpose. http://www.online-tech-tips.com/cool-websites/5-free-remote-desktop-sharing-and-screen-sharing-solutions/
